As Obi Wan told Luke - many of the truths we cling to depend on a certain point of view. Truth is relative. And everyone lies. All the time. Especially when they deny they ever lie.
Typically with practice one can avoid telling a white lie but then we call it politics or spin doctoring. There are no absolutes in this world.
For me it is deception if it is self serving buy if it is done with the intention as an act of kindness then it can be utilize.
Think of this. A woman dying of cancer on her death bed may look ugly but to her husband who is holding her hand and tells her she is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen…you tell me is it a lie, deception,truth…maybe its love. Who can judge.
