Yesterday, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, returned to her country after being in exile for the past 8 years. She is a major player in promoting democracy for her people.
While she was traveling through her country in a motorcade, 2 explosions were set off, killing at least 136 people. Bhutto was unhurt.
What are your thoughts on this situation?

Honestly? It makes me really sad.
I attended a conference in San Diego as a high school student where Benazir Bhutto spoke on leadership, and I was really impressed with her. You could tell from her language and manner of speaking that she is a woman with true convictions.
I can’t believe the wasted human lives that were spent yesterday by conscience-less people or groups who attempt to make political statements via murder.
Why are there people out there who feel that the only way to get their message across is with violence?!
Even two year olds, when you ask them to “use your words!!” understand that there are better ways to try to communicate more effectively.
My heart goes out to Benazir Bhutto today. I can’t imagine what it would feel like for her to have returned to her country with high hopes and a positive outlook for change, and hours later, to experience this.

In the Australian media, very little has been explained about this story - her homecoming, her supposed deal with Musharref for a transition to democracy, nothing. All we heard is she went home, hundreds of thousands rallied, bombs went off, people were killed.
It’s sad that bombs are an excellent promotional tool.
