Wow, five years out? It’s hard for me to see 5 minutes out sometimes
I see myself and my husband having a handful of employees, having a cool loft-like office space and helping shape the way people find and buy indie music.
I also see myself fixing-up an old house with lots of land and having a giant garden.
Basically I see myself being happy and active in five years.
A few months ago, I worked on conquering my long-held airplane anxiety. I wrote a post on CarolynnDuncan.com, with these (facetious) goals:
* Next year, Google, Skype, WordPress, DFJ, and about 20 more awesome companies call and want me to fly out immediately for interviews.
* In 2 years: After getting a special project with global micro-entrepreneurs up and running (will fill you in on this project later!), there’s a need for me to make some international trips to kick off operations abroad.
* 10 years from now: After starting my international gazillion dollars a year conglomerate, I’ve got monthly meetings in Tokyo, London, Rio de Janeiro, and New York.
* 50 years from now: Stockholm calls. Turns out I’ve just been awarded the Nobel Prize for global economic development. (Hey, these are hypotheticals, right?!)

So basically, it looks like I don’t have anything specified for 5 years from now. Maybe I’ll take that year off and become a beach bum in the Caribbean for a while.

Good question. Here is my answer:
Academically: in 5 years, I will be deeply involved in my PhD research, having just finished my general exams a few months previous.
Socially: hopefully married. Maybe a kid or one on the way.
Financially: well, I’m not planning on full time work between now and then.
That’s the plan as of right now.
