Do you have or would you ever get a tattoo?

What the heck, let’s try something new…
Today is officially “Bring a friend to Human Census” day.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get the most new people to check out today’s question and leave a comment.
Whoever refers the most new commenters will ask tomorrow’s “Solve A World Problem Wednesday” question. And, be inducted as our first card-carrying Human Census Chimpeon.
(Yes, there will be a card awarded, but unfortunately, no awards ceremony. Only because travel arrangements for everyone would be ghastly.)
So… the race is on!

No and no. Willingly puncturing myself with a needle sounds about as fun as repeatedly punching myself in the face. Yippee!

No and I’d really think about it… *cringe*
I may be pelted by some of my more conservative acquaintances, but for some reason, the idea of a tattoo (and multiple piercings, unfortunately!) has always been somewhat of a temptation.
The only major drawback is that who wants to be a 95-year old punk rawk granny?
Mental images of stretched-out tattoos and earlobes dangling down to my waist, in collaboration with a walker, cane, or wheelchair, always frighten me back into reality.

I’m intrigued by them but I also find them ugly. How’s that for being clear?
I like the artistic aspect and the fact that you can permanently ink you skin but I wouldn’t want to wear it forever.

No and no. This is the body I was born with, and I’m not going to add anything to it or remove anything from it.

I once got a henna tatatto wrapped around my upper arm when I was 17. That was excting! as well as ugly. About a week later I got invited to a formal dance. Ugly huge arm tatoo— nice formal—- tacky. My Mom had to scrub my arm with lemon juice for about thirty minutes to get it off. However my little arm hair fuzz was permently dyed. Ha ha! embarassing.
This is a secret…..I do want to put a little washable butterfly tatto on my shoulder blade.

Yes and yes. I got my first (and currently only) tattoo a couple of years ago. I spent several months trying to determine what I wanted. I’ll probably get another this fall.

No. Gross.

I have nothing but respect for people who make a well-thought decision to commemorate an event, change, decision, etc. in their lives with a permanent mark on their skin. What I can’t stand are the clearly-put-there-for-shock-value tattoos or simply not well thought out ones.
In traditional cultures, things like tattoos are often marks of initiations or sacrifices or something of that ilk. I wish we still saw it more like that (I know many people do.)
As for myself, would I? Yeah, if the occasion was right and I could find a place where it wouldn’t get all weird if I lose or gain weight, and would be subtle enough to make it work in conservative settings. Of course, that kind of defeats the concept of it being a mark of initiation (in most such cultures, I think you are supposed to know immediately that this person is “other”), but I’m the type who wants to hide amongst the “norms”.

Yes I do have one!
And it’s everyone’s favourite argument to get people to think about what it will look like when you’re old and wrinkly - but I figure it’s going to be more of a norm then when you look at all the people with tattoo’s at the moment.
We’re taking my dad to get his first for his 50th on the weekend!
