Why “Human Census”?
Ever wondered what the 6 billion people think about stuff? Obviously, I have!
So let’s ask them. Every day.
What
Each day I’m going to post a significant or insignificant question on this blog. The following day, I’ll post a new question and report on three things:
1. How many people participated in the project that day.
2. How many people answered the question.
3. What the notable answers were to that day’s question.
The number of participants will be measured by daily visitors to this site, the number of answers will be the relevant comments posted that directly answer the question, and I’ll report on notable answers of the day.
How To Answer
Visit this blog, and answer the day’s question by writing a comment on the specific blog post. Easy peasy.
I’ll close the post for comments at the start of the next day, to keep the project accurate.
How To Suggest A Question
I’ve got a lot of questions right now, but I might run out of things to be curious about. So email me: humancensus@gmail.com.
Oh– and any questions you wouldn’t want me asking your grandmother on your behalf, probably won’t be posted.
Miscellaneous Thoughts
I want this project to be spontaneous, organic, and to take on a life of its own. I’ll tell a few people, and you– please feel free to tell a few people also. But let’s not go terribly out of our way.
So, what will happen? Will this site sit still and not be seen or heard? How many of the 6 billion people will we actually hear from, and how long and what will that take to accomplish?
More interestingly, what will everyone have to say?
Understandably, not everyone has access to the internet, nor speaks English. Those are the two most immediate obstacles toward really finding out everyone’s answers to these questions.
There will be others, but let’s ignore them and just see what we end up with.
Starting with the “Day 1 Question…”
